I think you may have (completely) missed the point ........ no one is being
"put off" or "diss'd"; the intent is to make new list members aware of a
resource they did not know existed.
Years of assisting new TCML members (mostly via off-list communications) has
shown that a very large percentage are completely unaware of the TCML
archives. The truth is that the TCML archives DO contain a vast amount of
information, and are a valuable resource for any beginning coiler who is
seriously looking to gain a better understanding of what a Tesla coil is,
how and why it works, and how to build one.
Especially with commonly asked questions, the archives will frequently
provide a much broader range of responses and opinions than will be obtained
by a direct inquiry to the List, which may elicit only a limited number of
responses.
The bottom line is that an initial search of the archives will help a new
coiler focus his efforts and inquiries where they will do the most good.
