Re: [TCML] winding secondary coils
Cut two wooden plywood discs to fit your coil ends. To each disc affix a
simple plumbing flange (mounts with 4 screws). I use 1/2 ID steel water
pipe approx6 inches long sticking out of each end. You can attach a small
30 rpm gear motor to one end and use an oversize bearing on the other end
that the pipe will rotate in --- it's not fixed, just loose and rotates.
On the opposite end use a gear motor or large elec. drill to drive the
pipe. We clamp everything to a pair of sawhorses and wind most all of our
large coils this method.
Burden's Surplus in Nebraska has some nice inexpensive motors for winding
or a large 1/2 inch elec drill also works good --- be sure it has a speed
control.
