We carry the C-D brand 0.15 uF 2 kV caps in stock. Call tel 608-522-4378
to order.
Using a 30 mA NST then use C = 1.57 x Cres which works out to .01 uFD. Use
6 series spark gaps with a total spacing of .220 (total for all 6 gaps).
Blow a 150 CFM surplus fan through the sparkgaps. We use 3 in a row and
then 3 in a second parallel row approx 1/2 apart so the fan blows evenly
through all 6 spark gaps.
Using 0.15 uF value / 15 caps in series = .01 uF at 30 kV which is perfect
for an NST rated 30 mA.
Using a 3.5 or 4 inch OD coil with an 18 inch winding length expect 24-26
inch long sparks. Green SDR (sewer & drain) pipe from a local plumbing
supply shop.
Pri is 30 degrees. Tune with 30 turns of scrap #12 AWG. Final tuning
should come in around 15-18 turns.
