Re: Terry's DRSSTC - Experiment - A curious thing...

Hi All,
I quickly set up the plane wave antenna and got a current probe on the primary.
Here is the top voltage in some voltage units in yellow and the actual
direct primary current in blue. The sparks are short at about 1.5 inches
and rather "puffy". The BPS is 772.

Changing nothing else but the PBS rate to 800 gives a spark length licking
out at about 7 inches with these waveforms:

So, nothing very dramatic is happening to the coil voltages and
currents!! It almost seems like the longer streamers are relieving the
secondary of a "little" load and allowing a bit higher voltage. But that
is pretty small (or the longer streamers couple to the antenna
better...). The waveforms do carry over a bit from the last, so "maybe"
there is something to that... But the basic waveforms do not directly
explain the dramatic difference in output sparks...
Don't know what it all means, but you know what I do ;-)) Testing continues...
Cheers,
Terry
