Re: Strike object and "Terry Filter"

<<<<Group,
Just had a couple of quick questions. The first question
is: when constructing a strike object, should it be tied to RF ground, or
should it be connected to a separate ground rod in earth? My second
question is regarding the "Terry filter". What are the purpose of the
MOV's in the circuit? Is it just a safe guard in case a capacitor shorts
out? Will leaving them out make much of difference functionally? Just
thought I would check before making a Digi-key purchase! Thanks everyone
in advance!

As far as I know a “strike object” can be anything…. Grounded or not
All of mine seem to behave more or less the same. But a grounded one might
be best.
My coils strike all sorts of things, metal, non-metal. I once observed that
a NON grounded Aluminum sphere (hanging on 2 feet of fishing line) was hit
more often than the grounded rod.
Just Zap a bunch of stuff and see what works. It’ll be fun.
Good luck
Josh
