Running Tesla Coil from Power Inverters
Original poster: "Mccauley, Daniel H by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <daniel.h.mccauley-at-lmco-dot-com>
Any have experience in running small coils (< 500W) from 12VDC-120VAC power
inverters.
I realize that most of the inexpensive types basically output a square wave
and not a sine or stepped sine wave and not sure how this would affect
performance. I would suspect the following:
1. Much higher peak charging currents for tank capacitor.
2. Much higher peak voltages as to obtain same RMS output, the peak value
of a square wave is much higher. This could be bad for NST and capacitors.
What are your thoughts??
