thanks for the tip.  Isopropyl biphenyl eh!!  Will try the rewelding.
Thanks for the great idea. I have a butane soldering iron on which you can
put a blade for cutting marine rope. its like a small spatula.  you're
right, the epoxy probably wouldn't stick to the plastic.  
    I tend to think the isopropyl biphenyl probably isn't the best thing to
get on one's hands,  Washed & acetoned hands a lot and still had a residual
smell on them.
