Coil diameter and Inductance

Hi folks,
I'm the one with the 8.5" secondary and "Cystal Water" bottle cap idea.

Well, the geek group bucket cap design does seem better for caps.

Plus, I'm rethinking using an 8.5" secondary. A colleague here mentioned
that better inductance can be achieved with a smaller diameter coil. I
would hate to have wound that huge secondary for nothing. I have plenty of
fat pvc to work with so maybe I should be using something like everybody
else is using. It looks like everybody's secondarys are fat (3-4") pvc.

As you know the primary is totally dependant on the size of the secondary
so I'm trying to finalize my design.
