Hi Eric,

Florescent tubes have mercury vapor in them and the pressure is far too
high to make x-rays.  Many light bulbs have argon gas in them so they do
not produce x-rays either.  Vacuum tubes and some high vacuum light bulbs
will produce x-rays.

It is hard to produce enough x-rays to cause any problems unless you really
try.  In general, you will not get irradiated by casually playing with high
vacuum tubes around a Tesla coil but do be aware of it.
