RE: 8" coil powered by NST's ?

Jim:
if you derived the NST and MMC combo using the Java Script such as that on
Bart Anderson's website, then you should also have the primary and the
secondary parameters that go along with that. Just keep tweaking his formula
until you get a Tuned Difference of 0% or..you are in tune.
It's like when someone doesn't know the formula and merely uses trial and
error numbers until the right combo is attained.

My personal suggestion is to consider an 8" for anything of 120ma and up.
My next hi-power coil (if I build it) will be 3, 15/60s and an 8" tube.
Make sure that the resonant value of your MMC is upped to 1.5X to 2X for
LTR. You'll want to use a triggered gap to save money and effort <!>.

How do you plan to transport 100-125 pounds of NST?????

Hello All and Happy Thanksgivings USA,

I have completed my HV supply, MMC bank (.021 uf), safety and RQ air blast
gaps, and worm gear powered LARGE winding jig. I have two PVC coil forms,
36" long, a 6.25 inch and a 8.125". The 8" is prepped. I would like your
opinions on whether (2) 15KV/60 high power NST's will drive this coil or
would it be better to prep and use the 6"?

Specs:

Primary: 15 turns .25 copper tube, spaced .25 with a 2" arc space on a 15
degree incline. Java Tesla projects tapping between 12 and 13 -at- 112Khz for
an 8" coil (about fifty feet of tube).

Proposed secondary: 8.125 x 36" 22 AWG double formar.

1. What do you think? Will there be enough power? I may latter add LTR to
.032 as I have the caps at hand.
2. What do you suspect would be the maximum toroid size (dryer duct) and
still achieve adequate breakout?

This is my first sizeable coil, except for small one I built out of triodes
when I was very young which didn't do doodely squat:-).

This coil will likely end up in a Faraday cage in our new science wing after
I have had some fun with it!

Thanks for your assistance.
