Re: copper plating

Somebody on the list must know about electroless plating. In the past
I have had coils and other things plated on grooved ABS rods. The
plating started off with electroless copper, followed by silver. After
the whole rod was plated the outside was ground down until only the
conductor remained. Worked great and at least one such device is still
working in space after over 20 years, but never saw the process done and
don't know details.

By the way, there's nothing magic about toroids except that they look
neat. A "filled-in" toroid would work just as well and might be easier
to make. As for me, the type-wrapped dryer duct seems the easiest,
cheapest, and lightest weight way to go.
