It may be heresy, but, if you were to coat the secondary with a static
dissipative coating (high resistance, but still a conductor) it might do a
lot to reduce static buildup without affecting the tesla performance. Say
you used something with a resistivity around 1E7 or 1E8 ohms/square (you can
get up to 1E9 ohms/sq). If you had a secondary that is 6" in diameter and
30 inches tall, the top to bottom resistance would be 30/(6*3.14)*1E7 ohms
or about 15-150 Megohms. At a megavolt or so on the topload, this is a
current of 5-50 mA, which might be a bit high.... Ideas anyone?
