People with budgets have determined optimal designs for VDGs for the extremes
of duty - charging current vs. max voltage - for which they are suitable.
It seems to me there is little need to reinvent the wheel here. Peletron, paper or
acetate belts, etc.
The problems with fluid / particle streams in place of belts or chains are well
documented and render the notions little more than curiosities. They’ve been
tried.
