I remember seeing a diagram of the nozzle. It's a venturi system that
creates a vacuum in the mushroom shaped topload. It's identical to an
infinity jet used for gold dredges, but instead of water it uses air. (an
internal mix air brush is also an example) The mercury vapor is created in
the center and is electrostatically accelerated to the nozzle. Kind of like
a reverse fusor.
It would probably work for targets across a room, but not for longer ranges.
Just too much air in the way. Though, if you have a streamer issuing from
the nozzle, it may increase the range by creating a vacuum path due to
heating. It might also make for a really long streamer.
