Doug i think you are referring to self powered my new build is externally excited so both rollers are metal and bottom roller must be grounded. i did wonder if my bearings would provide electrical ground have not tested yet. Going to test with some bent split washers against a static washer sprayed with graphite. The roller was set screwed onto a shaft that was supported on pillow block bearings which were grounded. Easy and effective.
