Hello All, I am wondering about DC cap charging much higher than Fo. I have a six pulse Tube Power Supply made by Raytheon. It stated output is 24KVdc. The filter Choke is a whopping 150H. (6) 8020 3 phase 6 pulse tube supply is impressive. I have no interest in voltage doubling with this. The Fo would be 58.1, 41.0, 29.05hz with the .2uf, .1uf, and .05uf cap configurations I have, respectively. Richie Burnet has the wonderful section on Resonance charging but does not explore the DC inductor filtered supply in much depth. If I measure across the 150H horns, I get a 563 ohm DC resistance which seem pretty high to me. The L/R time constant would then be apparently be to full energy charge 150H/563 = .266 seconds less the tank capacitor -Xc. Anyone want to figure what the break rate might be possible in this scenario? The good news is all the connections come out to the outside world from the .25" steel tank and I can remove the Inductor completely or parallel it. A stout 6 pulse supple at 24KVdc sans this choke would probably do fine except for the shorting of the supply when the breaks occur. Any ideas? Here a picture of the schematic: http://www.helpofojai.blogspot.com/ Any musing would be welcomed. Thanks, Jim Mora I know this is very old school but interesting and thought provoking nonetheless. _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
