Re: [TCML] SSTC sources
In most cases the driver does not directly determine the maximum operating
power. For example, my own basic antenna feedback driver design has been
tested to be fully capable of driving a SSTC in excess of 2kW. It's all in
the power switches (IGBTs/MOSFETs), your resonant frequency, and the gate
drive chips (or discrete transistors) used. I use the popular UCC37321/22
pair which can handle up to 9A. There is a formula to determine how much
current is needed to charge and discharge the gate capacitance of your power
switches based on frequency and gate drive voltage, but it eludes my tired
mind at the moment. You wouldn't want a small secondary (read: high fres)
running at very high power levels anyway as thermal issues would pop up, so
going high power tends to keep the frequency down, which makes a huge
difference. What I'm trying to say is it is harder on a driver to run a 750W
coil at 900kHz then a 5kW coil at 100kHz.
Is there a reason you are looking for pre-assembled boards? It really isn't
terribly hard to make a simple SSTC driver, and it does not have to be
expensive. The most expensive parts are the power switches, UCC chips, and
GDT core. The only pre-assembled options I have ever seen have been from
EVR.

Where would one find sources for assembled (and tested) SSTC electronics
(i.e. the high power IGBT, etc.) for coils in the 1-10kW range. Not the
coils themselves, or the 400-600V DC Power supply..
that's a kit... and I don't think it's in the >1kW range.. but that's
the general idea.
