RE: [TCML] MOT wire question

Hi,

I cut the filament wires as close as possible and use them for B+ feeds in
vintage guitar amp repair which I have been doing for survival funds;-) I
believe it is Teflon under the cloth cover. It keeps the vintage looks too.

This has kept me away from Tesla fun for awhile though :-(

Brian,
Just ignore the Magnetron filament winding. It only produces a few volts,
so it is of no use for Tesla coiling. You can cut off the leads, but it is
best to not try to remove the turns off the core--too much risk of damaging
the primary or secondary.

I've got a couple of MOTs and there is this 'middle' fabric coverered wire
tucked in for a turn or two just under the secondary. Its what hooked into
the MOC and magnetron.

I see that the output for the secondary is there but just unused.

What's the deal with this third wire? Can I, or should I, take that out if
using the MOTs for a tesla coil?

Or how would it help me if i left it in there and hooked up to it?
