[TCML] Transformers

I have looked high and low I can not find the name of this place. I have it written down some where I accident came across it about a month ago. All I can remember is, it is located in Sparta TN. They have a warehouse of nothing but transformers. Most of the transformers are used but there are lots of transformers that are new. Most the the transformers are dry type transformers but they also have power line pole transformers.

There is a salvage place in Lewisburg TN, 20 acres of just about anything you can think of. They have transformers too but you have to look hard to find them they are scattered all over the entire 20 acres. Take your lunch, drinks, hat, tools and a chair and spend the entire weekend there. If you see something you want use your tools to take it apart so you can buy the parts you want. I have been there twice, last time was about 6 or 7 years ago.

There is a very large railroad salvage place in Jacksonville FL near the railroad yard. There use to be signs along the interstate advertising the place. Several railroad companies bring all the train wreck items to several large buildings and the stuff is all sold at silent auction. This is the type of place where you can spend an entire week looking, if you don't see what you want come back in a few weeks it will all be different stuff. The way it use to work you walk around and look, the stuff is placed in large piles you are bidding on the entire pile. If you see a pile you like you get the number of the pile and you place a bid. If you win you have a certain number of days to get it out of the building. Once I bid $1.00 each of a pile of 500 color TV sets and I won. About 75 of the TVs were broken leaving me 425 good TVs to sell. I once bought an entire pile just to buy an oil well drill bit. Sold the drill bit for $4000.00. I have seen large piles of microwave ovens a good supply of HV transformers for Tesla Coils. I have seen 4 ft square pallet boxes full to the top with capacitors. I have seen pallets full of enamel coated copper wire. I bought a pallet full #24 enamel coated copper wire about 10 years ago and sold most of it on this forum. I have seen several HV transformers in the past they are usually strapped to a wooden pallets usually 4 power line pole transformers to a pallet. The place use to be called Railroad salvage and it has been many years since I was there. Piles that set on the floor for more than a month or so with no bids are sold at public auction. They use to post the public auction date on the board in front of the office. Auction is fast they sell an entire pile in about 1 minute or less and move on to the next pile. Dissadvantage to the solent auction is you have to be there to look and bid then return at a later date to pay and pick up your item if you win. Dissadvantage to the public auction is most of the stuff that did not sell at the silent auction is stuff no one wants and it sells dirt cheap, $10 for the entire pile. You need to take a good size flat bed trailer or large truck when you go there.
