Re: [TCML] Klystron use?

Has anyone ever built a tube coil using a klystron?
Unlikely
Would the Klystrons (there are 3) from a 1987 Harriss 120UX transmitter be
suitable for such an application?
No..
AFAIK the tubes would be tuned for transmitting a standard television signal
on Channel 28.
UHF...
Let's say, in round numbers, 500 MHz.. that's a good 5000 times higher
than you want to be.
And, Klystrons are fairly narrow band devices, so it's not like a UHF
triode that will still work at HF or lower. They rely on the
interaction of the EM fields in tuned cavities with an electron beam
passing through. Those tuned cavities at 100kHz would be moderately
large(!) and pumping a good enough vacuum so that the beam would
propagate without hitting some residual air would be a challenge<grin>
