Hi all,

Yes, it's interesting how this "professionally made"
research VDG doesn't look much like the familiar
"globe on a column". I would suppose that they
must pressurise those field control tanks that Finn
mentioned with a good number of atmospheres
(or possibly SF6) for high voltage standoff. As tall as
this unit appears, and as large of an ROC that the col-
lection terminal has, I would figure that it should be
capable of generating several million volts of potential.
I believe this VDG was likely desinged for producing
the high speed electrons for a cyclotron and not neces-
sarily for making sparks.

I suppose the paranormal researchers could have a field
day with the ghost image as well - one of the painters
accidently fell off the scaffolding and died during the
construction of the facility, but his soul cannot leave the
place and rest in peace because he will always feel that
he did not complete his piant job ;^)
