Competition for the largest "egg" driver was in The Physics Teacher
magazine years ago. At one of the large hydro dams was three large pipes
jutting up out of the rock face. They contained a major 3-phase output
from the system, and someone had discovered that the rotary b-fields would
spin a metal object. They'd set up a vertical wooden post with a
sharpened nail on top, then balanced an upside-down steel coffee can on
the nail. Giant induction motor using 1-turn coils.
