I have never attempted to use a pig nor looked into how to ballast one, so take my comment with a grain of salt. But I thought I recall that the LV welding electrodes need to be shorted together? Could be important...

Hi Marcus?

Simply wire the 240 volt input of your welder in series with the 240
volt input bushings on the side of the pig. Then turn the current selector
of your welder to the desired level (most will turn it to the 225 amp
selection, or wide open) and this should allow about 50 amps or so
of current flow into the pig when its high voltage output bushings are
shorted with a Jacob's ladder.
