4.5:1 height/dia ratio offers good performance and reduces spark discharges
to primary.
Use a sharp point off the toroid elevated at 20 degrees for long spark
lengths.

13" dia. x 4.5 height/dia ratio = 58.5" winding length

Using 1,000 total turns (pole xmfr), then 58.5" winding length / 1,000 turns
 =  .0585" OD wire size  =  17 AWG wire size

If it's a nst power coil, then 1,400 total turns offers good performance, so
58.5" / 1,400 turns  =  .042" OD wire size  =  18 AWG wire size

Use double-build enamel magnet wire for good performance and best dielectric
properties.
