All,

At least one major motion picture in production this year features Tesla coil effects shot for real. Inevitably, it will get chopped around in post production, but the underlying effect is 100% live, 100% real.

The picture in question is due for release mid-2007. When it's release time, rest assured I shall post details to the list.

Safe Coiling,

Nick

I wonder where they got the teleporter idea?... *smirk* We pitched that idea
to David Copperfield three years ago... I wonder if he is listed as a
consultant on that movie?... ;-)
This was the SECOND Hugh Jackman movie too "chicken" to use a real Tesla
coil on set. The first was Van Helsing (we ran three live demos on set and
they were white faced with fear) and after seeing that one, I'm glad they
used GC...
This is different... A movie with Tesla coils that doesn't use Tesla
coils... I agree that we've pushed the envelope with software modeled after
kVA Effects coils (Triple X, Van Helsing, Prestige), but at what point does
the audience get tired of FAKE lightning bolts...
We hope that as the Artbeats DVD become more of an industry standard for
this sort of thing that movie goers will become more sophisticated when if
comes to OSL (on screen lightning). The theme parks have picked up the
ball... now the film industry needs to catch up.
Jeff
