Original poster: "Peter Terren" <pterren@xxxxxxxxxxxx>My take on voltae reversal is that it depends how conservatively they rate the cap. Conservative ratings = higher reversal is OK. For example my 8kJ Maxwell is 80% reversal rated but is larger than the 10kJ Aerovox caps at 20% reversal. You might be interested in looking at these on my site with the specs and pics of exploding stuff. They do actually have Tesla application to add a HV potential to the secondary to increase the arc in ground strikes. They also can be used in a DC coil to smooth the supply. I haven't done either though I might add (yet).

Original poster: "Daniel Seidel" <dfseidel@xxxxxxx> as a side note, I was planning on paralleling a couple to keep the V reversal down... I think I have the theory down on the reversal that it is a function of the rated specs of the cap and not the actual charge level.
