In the case of my test rig, some of it got sucked back into the primary
after the inverter turned off and the rest was just dissipated in the
secondary ringdown. Why the ringdown energy didn't light the bulb I do not
know. It may have been a threshold thing where the upper pole was not
"quite" producing enough field to light the bulb.
When I said "lots" I meant relatively compared to other tunings I was
experimenting with at the time. For this series of tests I deliberately kept
the power low with a DC link voltage of only 30V and the total draw from the
DC link could not have been more than 5 watts.
