The explanation by the photographer is very interesting to read - I did
quite a bit of research on lightning a few months ago just for fun, and
this was by far the most impressive picture I found - it must be one of
the closest, if not the closest, image of a lightning strike ever taken.
The fact that it's very likely a positive strike is even more
impressive.

Here is a wonderful picture of a leader ground strike and lots of

There is a nice lens shadow showing the main leader at vastly reduced
brightness to the left too.
