I have one of these:

If memory serves, I paid $100 for mine. I paid more
for shipping than for for the item!

It's a GE VoltPac. Given all the taps, you could
easily put in 120 or 240 and get anything up to 540
out. You gotta watch the current if you do this
though. There are charts for this. Each unit is
actually a little smaller than a 1256, though the
whole thing weighs a ton. It has a nice big dc motor
actuator on top.
