We only use pole xmfrs for large coils ---  the 10-15 ft long sec spark will
get you a long time before you get near the primary.  In short, you'll
already be on fire before you get near the base of the coil

We put the HV power supply in a sealed separate box and use 125 kV "big red"
jumper cable to connect to the base of the oscillator.
