RF field strength - SSTC coils

Anyone measure the RF field strength of their SSTCs??

I'm becoming more and more concerned that the high field strength may be
quite hazardous.
I was running my SSTC (half-rectified) but with a very small arc output, and
the RF field was strong
enough to put a very bad burn on my finger when I was adjusting an audio
oscillator about 6 ft away from the SSTC.
It was a pretty good burn complete with smoke and the smell of burning
flesh.  Now i have a hard white burn remnant
on my finger.

I'll have to borrow the Narda meter again and try to make a good survey of
the RF field.
