         Many extension cords are rated well under
         15A.  The receptacle (outlet) is rated for
         a maximum plausible load, by custom,
         (regulation) in the US, this is 15A.

         In a real sense, for Brief Periods, this can be
         exceeded, but is bad practice.  The melt down
         point is Well Above this...

         Back to extension cords:
         The common 'brown zip cord' (and white...
         8)>>) tends to be around #18 are 8Aish.

         Also, the LENGTH of the extension cord enters in,
         at high loads and long lengths...
