Okay...I think I know what you are taking about,
I just completed my tests of some older (2-7 lbs) smaller cored MOT's, and
yes they are saturating at 120 VAC. I think your problem is with the primary
turn ratio...the older/ smaller wattage MOT's are built for 110 VAC
MAX...even 10 VAC over and they start buzzing. If their is a load attached
to the transformer the voltage drops off slightly and current draw goes
up....and saturation stops.
However, as I will state again..my larger 1.4 kW drawing MOT's
(15 lbs each) are able to go up to 140 VAC / 150 VAC...beyond that they
begin to saturate.
...I think you guys were using smaller MOT's to conduct your saturation
experiments.
