Hi,

A 60 Milliampere NST may draw around 12 amps while a 30mA NST may draw around
6.  Power factor correction caps can lower that current about 40%.  12 gauge
wire is fine for the input.  The output is only like 0.1 amp max but the
voltage is far higher.  Thin wire with really heavy insulation is called for on
the output but you could always just put plastic tubing over any wire to
protect against the high voltage.
