Hi Jim,
B4 Terry kill this topic, what do you know about the pea whistles? I
have a wartime whistle that uses a pea. The frequency is around
400 cps and it was used to modulate the 48 V bias voltage so you
could "ring thru" to ring the other phone. Sort of a sub-cycle ringer.
I don't know why it would be needed because the EE-8 field phones
have the built-in magneto.
