Hi, well i have been using metal fan guards for toroids for some time. they
seem to work fine if you can join the 2 halves with a somewhat smooth seam.
(aluminum tape) or welding. The impression where the guard is hooked to the
motor doesnt seem to be a problem either. I also have used 2 frying pans
epoxied rim to rim for a toriod and they work well also..cul brian f.
