Hi Terry*,
Count me in on a large toroid. I should have gotten one the last time.

Hi all,

Thanks to the for the interest so far regarding a possible bulk
buy of some big toroids. I was thinking of ~ 8" X 32" as the size
and hopefully that would be in the general "ball-park" of the size
that everyone wanted :-) So sar, I've had about 5 people show in-
terest in a possible bulk buy. BTW, I didn't know that I would be
the one who ended up organizing this bulk buy :-O, but I suppose
if we got enough people interested, I could oblidge :-)

I haven't personaily contacted O.W. Landgren yet, but I wouldn't
think that 5 or 6 orders would be enough to significantly reduce
the cost :-( I would personally not be able to fit over $300 for one
into my budget, so under $300 would be my price goal, under $250
would even be better :-))

A couple of you brought up a good point about the weight issue of
toroids of this caliber. A slightly thinner skin would help in this area
as well as the cost, but, on the down side they would be more su-
septable to damage during shipment. A lot of issues to resolve. And
the shipment cost and possible damage via shipmant becomes even
more acute for the interested coilers in the UK.

If at least 15 people end up showing interest in this, I'll contact OW
Landgren and see what kind of deal they can put together for us and
take it from there. I imagine we'll have to opt for the thinner skinned
(6061-0)ones, due to the weight and cost issues, and request that they
really pack them with care :-]. And if everyone's agreeable so far, we
will go for 8" X 32" as the size.

Finally, if anyone feels that their organizational skills are superior to
my own, they're most likely RIGHT and I will gladly let them take over
the helm of this attempt :-) I had no idea that everyone would be turn-
ing to me as the organizer of a bulk buy when I just mentioned the idea
of a bulk buy, but it looks like so far it's my baby :-) But if anyone else
wants to give it a jab, help yo' sef :-)
