No... those activities are much too safe.  Better to work on something that
is potentially lethal, but under supervision, because by doing so, you can
teach your son/daughter that a) potential for danger isn't danger, and b)
adherence to procedure allows you to separate the two. Plus, the kid gets
much better "my parent is better than yours" bragging rights when he helps
you make big sparks than just ordinary mowing lawns and fixing furniture
(which you should make him do... as if  I have any hopes of convincing my
kids to do those sorts of things, hah!)).  I find that my daughter is much
more interested in the water rockets, solar furnaces, quarter shrinkers,
etc.
