What is what in that picture (was Re: My new coil!)
Hello.
Because at the High Voltage Laboratory here in the Helsinki University of
Technology they have got similar devices than those in the "famous" picture, I
asked today what is what.
- the big machine in the background (right side) is a Marx generator
- the device in front (right side) is a high-voltage AC transformer (generates
HV AC): it has got at least three windings
- the device in the background (left side) is a voltage multiplier (i.e.
generates HV DC)
- the "Tesla Coil" hanging from the roof actually is simply a voltage
divider to
measure HV voltages. It is hanging from the roof to save floor space.
No there is no TC in that picture, sorry :).
If you want to see a big TC in a HV laboratory check this link (third picture
from up)

Ok folks! Here is my latest Tesla coil. That is my E.E. nephew and
myself at the bottom of the picture! But seriously, just check out the
scale of this system, you will be very impressed! Maybe this is where
the info in the missing Colorado Springs notebook disappeared to!

If anyone, after viewing this BIG TESLA .jpg would wish to see what this
monster device is being used for, then I will scan and post the picture
of what the actual use is of this monster Tesla coil for all to see!
Yep, it was one of Nikola Tesla's ideas! Is he the man or what?!!!
