Uh uh. At least, I don't think so. I thought I understood the current
limiting of an NST.
I do not think the saturating core applies to the primary. I would have
thought that there must be some value of pri current where the I sq R losses
will cook the primary as they would in a noncurrent limiting xformer.
I spotted your post asking for info on tube type QB 5/17-- something. I had
intended to get back to you. I did make an effort but I can't find any tube
in the 1700s, not even in the Richardson listing or the ARRL Handbooks.
Unless someone comes up with something,
I think you may have some proprietary tube (valve? :-)) ) made special for a
particular
apparatus. You might try pursuing the QB as a manufactures ID.
