Philip,

I would suggest making the secondary of a suitable size to be used for
both a tube coil or spark-gap coil.  There's no reason the two should
be different.  For instance I've used a 3" by 12" secondary wound with
#28 magnet wire for many tube and spark gap TC projects.  This way
you can sell to both types of coilers.  Since more folks are interested
in spark-gap TC's than tube TC's, this will more than double your market.
The price you mentioned seems reasonable for a nice secondary coil.
I think folks would buy them.  Make sure the quality is high.
3.5" diameter with #27 wire is fine too. 
You can advertize on the Tesla 2 list too.  Give a full description of
the design of the secondary in the ad.  I've gotten up to 20" sparks
from a tube coil from the 3" by 12" secondary, and 21" sparks
or longer from the spark gap coil using the same secondary.
