I seem to remember a 6" spark arc from this system at 30w and the NST was a
burned out 9KV unit with only one half alive. The cap was a .008ufd unit
and it
had a 20 gap tungsten series gap. Tapped where ever it worked best. I still
have half that gap (10 gaps) all are spaced at ~.003". The secondary was
an 8"
tall 3" diameter thingy with #30 wire and a 12"X3"" toroid was used. I
believe
that it took between 80 and 100 watts to hit 12" and the arcs were thin and
stringy due to the resonant frequency begining rather high. Whatever it was.
All sparks were to a grounded pointed rod. Also, I have never taken much rest
from fusor work I would think it is more of a break from Tesla coilin'. This
might have been the system of the Xmas work in 1996. So many coils ago.
