Hi Terry:

Sounds like you have a dandy table-top rig.  I'm still a bit unclear
about some of it though.

Is the peak capacitor charging voltage determined just by the gap
spacing (like in "real" coils)?  If so, how do you adjust it to fire at
600, 800 volts?  I wonder if this would be the place to try those high
voltage semiconductors?

And what is it that tunes the primary to the secondary?  I missed how
your capacitors were configured and chosen.  I assume the cap value was
chosen to match the primary and secondary Fres.  What is the actual
capacitance used?
