Re: PSpice modeling of spark gaps
A web search for +spice +"spark gap" came up with an interesting
application note from Intusoft, at: http://205.147.9.162/nl50.htm.
The paper describes and gives 2 different behavioral spice models for
spark gap based surge suppressors, but the model has parameters that are
easily changed. I don't think their behavioral model is directly
importable to my MicroSim PSpice, but the basic behavior is, and includes
negative arc resistance, arc sustaining current, and accounts for a
variable dV/dt applied to the device. Now I just have to read a pile of
manuals on writing behavioral models...
