I have been reading about the 60 gap spark gap design.  

It was stated the noise level dropped, pleasant to be around, and looking at 
the spark, the brightness would be reduced to the level that it was difficult 
to see at times.  

Does this mean the spark gap EMI has been reduced and the harmful UV 
minimized?
