Well unlike Terry I don't have time to respond to every thread.
The only disadvantage I can see for mains power transmission is due to
its very poor efficiency we would need ten thousand times more power
stations. But think of the advantages no over head power lines. Every
vehicle could be powered from a coil mounted on its roof. Light bulbs would
be self powered by short coils. Street lighting would be simple consisting
of just a long coil for the poles and the discharge would provide the light.
The ozone produced would help repair the ozone layer and with all those
power stations the green house effect would even make the UK warm. But
best yet all we would have to do is tune our secondary to the local power
company frequency and sparks would be produced without the need of any
primary circuit ;-)
