Hello all!

As far as using wood in TC construction, My entire coil base is basswood, 
painted black and shellacked over. The Primary mounts are also wood in the 
same treatment. I have never had an arc through the wood, and no fires to 
date :). 
I would definitely recomend polying or shellacking the wood if you are in a 
moist or very humid area. Just make sure that the wood has had ample time to 
dry on its own....no baking needed, just leave it in a warm environment for a 
while.
