RE: High Voltage Snubber .1u 3kV = rejects caps
Additional note. While investigating the construction used in these
caps, I contacted GE about them. GE (after I ended up calling all over
the country) has no current part number that matches these caps, and
none of the engineers I talked to could answer my questions. One person
did tell me that this was an old number and not produced any more. I
proceeded to order a dozen of them. I then tested them across a gap and
a NST (12/60) starting with 10 in series and reducing them down to 3 in
series to get some kind of idea on heat buildup. I was eventually able
to get a burn on the outter covering when I got down to 3, but after it
had cooled down, I tested the bad cap and it showed good (????). Anyway,
I went ahead and ordered 150 pieces and built several strings of
12/string, and they work fine and with no failures to date (only a few
months now). Hosfelt still had about 1000 caps in inventory at the time
of the last order.
