Hello James, In what context? 10AWG wire is used as a conductor all over the place. Solid 10 gauge is usually good for around 50 amps, whereas stranded 10 gauge is usually good for between 15 and 30 amps, depending on the number of cores (more cores = less current capacity). Stranded will bend more easily and will be less susceptible to breaking. Solid wire will break more easily if bent multiple times in the same spot. So yes, 10 gauge wire will work great as a conductor, but be aware of its limitations. It may not work in all applications. A more specific question will yield a more specific answer.
