Hello all, please refer to these dates & pages in Tesla’s Colorado Springs Notes:
17 Oct. (p. 226). “Structure for capacity of extra coil.” That is, Tesla had intended to use structure of iron pipes to be used with extra coil.
23 Oct. (p. 235). “Experiments to further ascertain the influence of elevation upon capacity.” Please refer to figure on p. 236. Here is where a moveable ball is used to study elevation impact on capacitance.
26 Nov. (p. 301). “Determination of the capacity of iron pipes by improved method before described.” Capacitance measured with hood installed. Tesla comes up with 3 different values & thinks perhaps the capacitance may be even lower, if he tuned to first harmonic instead of fundamental frequency! He planned to recheck this.
10 Dec. (p 316). “Estimate of turns of extra coil to be used with the structure of iron pipes as capacity on free terminal.” Tesla calculates 54 - 55 turns on existing extra coil.
02 Jan. 1900 (p. 365). Please see the very last paragraph! Tesla intended (time permitting) to build an extra coil for full power of apparatus & take pictures outside!
My question remains: How could this have been done & what would the resonant frequency be?
And as a follow up, does anyone have an idea what the lowest possible frequency is for a Tesla coil / magnifier???
